Recent economic development is transforming China by the day. The young artists in the midst of present day China are acutely aware of these changes and are creating dynamic works reflecting their sound technique and multiple viewpoints on urbanization, the diversification of values and emergence of individual consciousness.
“Chinese Dream in Marunouchi − Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibtion” will be held at the Marunouchi Building Hall in Marunouchi from August 8th to the 21st.
29 works by Chinese artists who are at the center of worldwide attention and whose works are highly acclaimed in the market will be unveiled in Marunouchi, the headquarters of Tokyo, in August. The exhibition will coincide with the Beijing Olympics at a time when international focus on Chinese culture will be particularly high.
This is the first time that Chinese oil paintings will be exhibited systematically in Japan. The powerful collection of distinctive paintings includes works by Zhou Tiehai famous for his “camel” motifs and Zhong Biao well known for his dynamic football patterns.
Admission is free for this exhibition in the hopes of creating an opportunity for as many people as possible to encounter Chinese culture and uncover further exchanges between Japan and China.
